We spent a considerable time with the Gionee s5.5 and have found that this phone is an amazing combination of style as well as brains. Equipped with the mediatek’s octacore processor and 2gb ram, this phone is the world’s slimmest phone.

Gionee elife s5.5 Review

Hardware :

Well, you just cant call this phone something which relates only to beauty or looks and has nothing to do with the performance. The phone body is of magnesium alloy and has Gorilla Glass 3 on both front and back sides. The 13MP AF Rear camera captures the stunning images which look vivd on the 5 inch Super Amoled Full HD Display. The front camera is of 5MP and it seems good enough for shooting selfies. The Gorilla Glass technology has definitely helped Gionee in protecting the screen from scratches as we have used it in very rough manner, still the phone is good to go.

The company has also provided 2 pairs of screen guard for the Gionee e5.5 in the box. If I talk about the memory then this is something which some of the people may not like. The phone comes only in 16GB variant with NO EXAPANDABLE MEMORY slot. But the phone has OTG Cable support which means you can connect your usb drive and transfer data between either of them or you can watch movies and do other stuff. It supports only one micro sim. The phone is light in weight which means one can chat with this phone in night without any problems.

Software :

So, We have seen that Hardware wise, the phone is beast but what about its software part. The phone comes preloaded with Jelly bean 4.2.2 and Custom UI which is much similor to iPhone’s one. The company has named it Amigo 2.0 UI which is a stable one unlike Which was encountered in E7.

We have already upgraded our device to kitkat version of Android OS which was rolled on 3rd July and it seems blazing fast now. Although the company has tried to introduce and brandify themselves with the Amigo UI just like iPhone does but it has not attracted us the same way reason being in this UI, you cant use the widgets of the applications at all.

Here are the benchmarks of this device :

Our Verdict :

While using the phone, we found it bit hot. Yes, The phone gets heated up in circumstances like Gaming or intensive resource using applications. The reason behind this is most probably the Metal body which is a good conductor of heat. But then again, heating is not that much that you cant even use it. For normal operations, the phone works the way it is supposed to.

If somebody wants to have killer looks with the power packed performance, then you must consider buying it under the price tag of 21000 INR.

Pros :

  • Amazing Premium Looks
  • Metal body
  • Light weight
  • Camera
  • Display
  • Gorilla Glass 3

Cons :

  • Heating issue
  • Decent Battery

Everyone here at Android Launches is impressed by the Design Gionee has come up with. Although its the world's slimmest phone which the company is marketing too but its slimness sometimes causes the phone to be slipped from the hands. The glass behind the phone may be the reason, so you have to handle this with little care too.
